The mission is far from accomplished. An all out civil war is just around the corner. On Thanksgiving Day in the United States, Sunni Muslims in Iraq killed some 200 Shiites and injured many more. The Shiites immediately started firing mortar shells at a Sunni shrine and into Sunni villages. The Iraqi government is powerless to control this wave of violence.

Our soldiers are referees with guns. They now must risk their lives at preventing one religious group from killing another. The situation will only get worse. In October, 3,700 civilians have been killed in Iraq. We are not protecting America from another attack by staying in Iraq. There is no simple answer but a solution must be found. I believe that the solution is to break up Iraq. They can not govern themselves, let somebody govern them.

At one time, Pakistan and India were one nation. The religions could not live together. In 1947, they were divided. Maybe, somebody should consider a similar solution for Iraq. Maybe the solution is to let the Muslim nations resolve the problem. Whatever the answer, let the United States leave. We have spent too many lives and too many dollars in a nation whose citizens don't even like us.
